MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION
Service Project Enhances Entrance at Coast Guard Base
(article written by Allison Butcher, Public Affairs Director)
Our association celebrated Memorial Day early by dedicating our 54th community service project for the year. For this particular project, we thought it would be fitting to do something positive for one of the nation’s five armed services.
With help from Business Development Director George Capestany, our association successfully partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard, Integrated Support Command in Seattle to upgrade the entry at the Coast Guard’s base.
Master Builders Association member Berg’s Landscaping stepped up and provided labor and materials, with our financial support, to replace concrete barriers with three specialty landscaping planters filled with native plants. Our association also installed a lighted flagpole at the Guard House. Both upgrades were intended to enhance the appearance of the Coast Guard entrance.
On Friday, May 22, several association members and staff joined U.S. Coast Guard representatives and Berg’s Landscaping at a special ribbon cutting for the project. Executive Officer Sam Anderson said the upgrades were our small way of accomplishing three things: thanking the Coast Guard for its service to our nation and our region, commemorating U.S. men and women who died while in the military service, and celebrating our Centennial.
The U.S. Coast Guard’s Integrated Support Command is located at Pier 36 in Seattle.
